Boise State women’s volleyball team decided to forgo the opportunity to win the Mountain West tournament. Because they were facing a transgender player in the semi-finals.
After defeating Utah State in the first round The Lady Broncos also have state readiness along with second-seeded San Jose State University. which has transgender player Blair Fleming on the roster
Shortly after the semi-final victory Boise State said it would lose its semifinal game, which would automatically advance SJSU to the finals.

“The decision not to continue play at the 2024 Mountain West Volleyball Championships was not an easy one,” Boise State Athletics wrote in a statement. “Our team overcame the forfeit to earn a spot on the field of play and battled to victory over Utah State in Wednesday’s first round.
“They should not pass up this opportunity while waiting for a more thoughtful and better system to serve all athletes.”
The Broncos’ decision received a lot of praise on social media.
This is the third time the Broncos have lost to San Jose State this season. They also chose not to play in two regular season matches.

Boise State, Wyoming, Utah State and Nevada were among the conference teams to cancel games against the Spartans due to Fleming being on the team. They realize that forfeiture will result in loss of records. This ultimately helped SJSU maintain its high position.
