A California Highway Patrol trooper got involved with a monkey during a routine stop.

A routine traffic stop went awry when California Highway Patrol officers stopped a Rolls-Royce in Madera County on Monday.

Officers pulled over a 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost for exceeding the speed limit on Highway 99, but were surprised to find a Spider Monkey in the car.

The CHP noted that finding a strange animal in an unusual vehicle makes it especially bizarre. “It’s a traffic sign with a twist.”

The monkey was safely taken into custody by animal control. and was eventually transferred to Auckland Zoo to receive proper care. (CHP Madeira)
