A new survey has revealed the top 25 steak restaurants in the United States. Plus insights into the latest trends in how Americans enjoy beef.
The top 25 steak restaurants can be found in 16 states, according to Yelp. These nine states are California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. There are two restaurants in each state.
The nation’s top spot is Penumbra, which is based in Chicago, says Yelp. Penumbra currently has a perfect 5-star rating with nearly 1,000 reviews.
Steak can be cooked to perfection with a ‘hot’ texture and other savory tips from the chef.
The restaurant has been described as “intimate” and romantic, according to Yelp, with steaks that “Cuts like butter” and “cooked and seasoned perfectly.”
Yelp reviewers also praise Penumbra’s sides.

At a Brazilian style steak restaurant “Meat skewers are slow-roasted over an open flame, then served rodizio style – carved on the table until you say, ‘Here you go. ‘I’m full,'” according to Yelp.
The recipe is ‘classic Hawaiian’ using teriyaki short ribs instead of canned beef.
Three Brazilian steakhouses made the top 10: fifth-place Fazenda Gaúcha in Bedford, Texas; Passador Brazilian Steakhouse, number six in Alpharetta, Georgia; and Brasão Brazilian Steakhouse #9 in Plano, Texas.
Other South American dishes are in the top 10, according to Yelp, including No. 10 dish Penumbra No. 1, whose menu “reflects the chef’s Ecuadorian childhood.”

Two of the Florida restaurants in the top 25 are both inspired by Argentina, according to Yelp.
These restaurants are the #14 La Cosecha Argentinian Steakhouse in Medley, Florida and the #48 Bunbury in Miami.

Not all luxury restaurants are in the top 25.
Many restaurants have a casual atmosphere. More and the price is much cheaper.
No. 3 Shay’s Steaks in Philadelphia There is a menu that focuses mainly on sandwiches.
At Shay’s Steaks, “The signature cheesesteak gets a serious upgrade. It features tenderloin or ribs stuffed into each sandwich,” says Yelp.

On its Yelp page, Shay’s Steaks reviewers claim it’s home to “the best Philly cheesesteak ever” and that it “is definitely the best.”
Similarly, at Steak Shack No. 16 in Honolulu, Hawaii, customers order from a walk-up window.

The restaurant’s special menu includes a 6-ounce “Steak Plate,” which includes rice, salad and steak, cooked to order, for under $13.
The price of the largest serving at Steak Shack, a 14-ounce “steak plate,” is $22.80.
