ABC News has signed a new deal with George Stephanopoulos. Long-time news anchor as he cost the network millions to settle a lawsuit with President-elect Donald Trump, according to reports.
Stephanopoulos, who was reported to be making $18 million per year in his previous contract. It was a key point in the defamation lawsuit that was settled with Trump last week. But reports say the timing between the deal and his new contract was coincidental.
ABC News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

As part of the agreement, ABC News will pay $15 million to charity. “Presidential foundations and museums to be established by or for plaintiffs. The network will also pay $1 million in legal fees for Trump’s attorneys.
Stephanopoulos and ABC News were also required to issue a “regret” statement as an editor’s note at the bottom of an article on ABC News’ website. The statement read, “ABC News and George Stephanopoulos “Disappointed by statements made about President Donald J. Trump during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024.”
Liberal commentators from rival networks including CNN, NBC and MSNBC accused ABC News of “kneeling down” to Trump.
