The SEC title game will feature two schools with some of the most famous mascots in college sports. But only one school will get to travel.
Texas and Georgia will face off Saturday in Atlanta in the SEC Championship for a first-round bye in the college football playoffs. But the Mercedes-Benz Stadium only has room for one animal.
Bevo, the living Longhorn mascot will not travel to watch the competition Because he won’t be fit.

“When we received the request to have Bevo on the sideline at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, our officials considered a number of options, including a courtside location,” the SEC said in a statement. “The reality is that the field has limited space on the sidelines. We cannot jeopardize the safety of Bevo or the game participants.

Bevo, the 15th generation mascot, weighs nearly a ton and has horns that span 58 inches. Georgia’s mascot, Uga XI, is a much smaller bulldog.
