Biden ‘glad’ Sugar Bowl is being played after terrorist attacks in New Orleans

President Biden has a message for Americans before the Sugar Bowl game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish kicks off on Thursday evening.

Biden’s message aired on ESPN ahead of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

He prayed for the victims of the New Orleans terror attacks. which resulted in several deaths and dozens of injuries.

“Today all of America stands with the people of New Orleans,” Biden said. “We pray for those killed and injured in yesterday’s attack. And we are grateful to the brave first responders who ran to save lives.”

Biden said he was happy the game was able to resume. After being moved from Wednesday night to Thursday evening as officials scoured the city for bombs after the attack.

“I’m delighted the game is back today. But I’m not surprised that the New Orleans spirit is unstoppable. That is also true of the soul of America. We just have to remember who we are. “We are the United States of America,” he said.

“Nothing is beyond our abilities when we work together. God bless New Orleans. And may God protect our troops.”

Fans flocked to the Superdome earlier in the day to prepare for the game. Officials opened Bourbon Street hours before the game.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said he would attend the race.

“Security is going to be tight,” he said in an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “We’re all confident that we’re going to play this game. The Superdome is completely secure. Once again, the FBI continues to pour resources into the state.”
