Biden shuts down government in honor of Jimmy Carter

Following the death of former President Jimmy Carter, President Biden signed an executive order on Monday to close all executive departments and federal agencies on January 1, 9.

Such road closure which Biden described as The 39th president’s “sign of respect” will be in effect on the day of the late former president’s funeral.

Carter will lie in state in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. in Washington, D.C., before being buried at Washington National Cathedral. According to a statement from the White House and the Carter Center.

Biden signed a proclamation on Sunday declaring 9 days of national mourning. and ordered all American flags to fly at half-staff for the next 30 days.
