The Pirates were about to beat the Wolfpack 26-21. East Carolina had just blocked NC State’s defense and all they had to do was run out the clock. Running back Rahjai Harris ran the ball up the middle of the field with 44 seconds left. But the fight took place near the Pirates’ sideline.

East Carolina wide receiver Yannick Smith appeared to throw in the towel from NC State quarterback Tamarcus Cooley. The Wolves made a play and chased down Smith and shoved him to the ground. Two other East Carolina players jumped into the fray to protect Smith.

Eight minutes remained before everyone could calm down. And the final play will take place.

At least one officer was seen with blood on his face. Eight players were ejected from the game.

“I feel embarrassed as a coach,” NC State coach Dave Doeren said. “I know our players do too. That’s not how people in this program work. players of this program and the team of this program What do you want to do with something like that?”

“For me it was a terrible response to what happened to one of our players. And there’s no excuse for it. So I apologize to ECU and their team for the way we responded.”

He appears to be challenging schools in other states. Add them to their class schedule. East Carolina and North Carolina State are only 80 miles apart and have time to meet next season.

“I don’t think you can look at our fans and tell them it’s not a competition. It took another hour and 15 minutes,” Harrell said. “And there are a few other schools within the same distance. Maybe they should arrange a schedule for us too. Instead of trying to get our players They want to call our players and get our players. Now, how do you get us onto the field? Is it scheduled?

“We will be seen as little half-brothers. It doesn’t matter. These people will compete. They will take on the challenge. I know we have to play these guys again next year at the start of the year but we’re going to celebrate tonight.”
