Colorado Governor Jared Polis accused President Biden of putting “his family ahead of the country” with his pardon for Hunter Biden.

“As a father, I understand President Joe Biden’s natural desire to help his son with a pardon. But I am disappointed that he has put his family ahead of the country,” the Democrat wrote on X.

“This sets a bad precedent that could be misused by future presidents. And it will sadly tarnish his reputation. When you are president Your role is that of the family father of the nation,” Polis continued. It is based on the Latin word for head of household.

“Hunter took the legal troubles he faced upon himself and everyone can sympathize with his difficulties. At the same time, we accept that no one is above the law. not president And not the president’s son,” Polis added.

The White House announced Biden’s pardon for Hunter on Sunday night. And it comes after Hunter was convicted in two federal cases earlier this year.

The pardon applies to offenses against the United States that Hunter Biden “committed or may commit” from January 1, Dec. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024.

“Today, I signed a pardon for Hunter. My son,” Biden wrote in a statement. “Since the day I took office I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decisions. And I kept my word even as I watched my son be selectively and unfairly prosecuted.”
