Democrat Party MPs criticize the party for being stuck in the ‘old way’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said her party remains stuck in its “old ways” while reacting to the rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Failed bid to become chairman of the Democratic Oversight Committee and suggest that they place too much emphasis on seniority.

“At the moment I think both of them have all the qualifications. I think within the Democratic Caucus we’re stuck in the old ways. in doing things That’s where you get to at the senior level, so if you’re there longer you’ll get a post and I don’t think we’ll fully sit there and say, ‘Who might be the best installer in this moment?’” Crockett said.

Ocasio-Cortez Lost the bid to be the top Democrat on the committee to Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., who is more moderate. The 74-year-old lawmaker’s victory over Ocasio-Cortez was seen as a blow to progressives.

“I think America is looking at us and saying, wait a minute, we lost the election. And we know that the Senate lost seats. Is it now the House where we choose our seats? But I think they’re saying that we are. Looking to all of you to show us you’re willing to shake things up if it means we can move this country forward,” Crockett said.

AOC’s loss in bid for House committee chairman indicates Democrats’ choice

Crockett said the oversight board would be in good hands under Connolly. But said more frequent leadership changes would benefit Democrats.

“I think within political parties We will have a conversation about how we lead. Because on the Republican side They have term limits. So you can’t sit in those positions for very long, so they send out a lot of leadership. More often than we do on the Democrat side,” he said.

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes also attacked Democrats for passing on AOC and specifically signaling former House Speaker Pelosi to vote for Connolly.

Sunny Hostin, co-host of “The View,” also took issue with Ocasio-Cortez’s loss. and spoke in support of her progressive policies. which she argued should be popular among all Americans.

“She has been demonized by the right and she has been demonized as well by people on the far left who are too progressive and I want to try to set the record straight because if she is too progressive then the Democrats really will lose. working class people,” Hostin said Wednesday.
