Another former NFL star will lead a college program in 2025.
DeSean Jackson, a dynamic wide receiver who spent 15 years in the NFL, winning one Super Bowl and making the Pro Bowl three times, appears to be headed to Delaware to be its next head coach.
Jackson and the school are reportedly finalizing a deal, according to ESPN.
“He had an interview on campus a few days ago. And the two sides are expected to come together in the near future,” the report said.

ESPN added that Jackson has always wanted to coach an HBCU program and Delaware State will fulfill that dream for him.
Jackson retires from the NFL in 2023, but he won’t be away from the game for long. He coaches at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California as an assistant through the 2024 season.

Jackson would succeed in leading the program. That’s the Hornets, who are 1-11 in 2024.

Jackson played his final NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens, catching nine passes for 153 yards in seven games, but many remember him from his days playing defensive line with the Eagles. Making all three Pro Bowls with the Eagles from 2008-13.
Throughout those eight seasons Jackson recorded 6,512 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns, most of which left defenses in the dust. He also played a part in one of the most memorable special teams in league history. “Miracle at the Meadowlands II” by returning a punt against the New York Giants as time expired to win the game. It capped a comeback in the fourth quarter from a 31-10 deficit.
Jackson later played for the Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders before his senior year in Baltimore.

Jackson finished his career with 641 catches for 11,263 yards and 58 touchdowns.
