Morning Glory: Trump’s approval rating has never been higher

The oversimplified and obvious answer is that President-elect Trump 2.0 is not President Joe Biden, while President-elect Trump 1.0 is not President Barack Obama.

Two additional possible explanations aside from “He’s not Joe or Kamala.”

First, Trump’s dissatisfaction in 2016 shocked and hurt the Manhattan-Beltway media and political elites. Trump never spent a night in D.C. this time eight years ago. And the shock of his victory in 2016 was followed by predictions of doom from the usual suspects that never stopped, and the “resistance” took over the media. “Pink Hats” are booking flights to Trump’s inauguration a day after counter-protests. “Hillary should win, dammit,” and when she doesn’t, The left’s media and political elites have gone to great lengths to convince America that Trump is, at best, totally corrupt and possibly a dictator. Eight years later, after endless investigations and years of legal action, It turns out that most Americans aren’t buying what traditional media is selling anymore.

But that’s not the case either. My proposition: Trump is more popular today than ever before. Because Americans love being optimistic. And Trump isn’t just selling hope. But he also believes in it. Combine love for an elected leader who believes in the country and its essential goodness with the credibility of Trump’s critics and the disastrous years of Biden’s years have crumbled.
