“I am a fellow Democrat. But we don’t consider ourselves progressive or moderate or conservative in San Francisco,” Lurie said. “We just want to get back to common sense. We have to deliver the basics and that is my plan. That is the mandate I was elected to follow.”

“We need to make sure we have a fully staffed police department. We must control the behavioral and drug crisis in our city,” he added. “We need to make sure our small businesses can thrive. Our big business has to come back to San Francisco. We need to open up businesses again. I don’t believe that’s a swing to the right. That is a common sense approach.”
