The driver of a Herald Square taxi was suffering a medical emergency during the accident.

The driver of a yellow cab hit six pedestrians as he jumped a curb in a New York City shopping district on Christmas Day. was experiencing a medical emergency at the time, police said.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that the 58-year-old taxi driver launched his taxi over the curb. causing a car to crash into a group of pedestrians in Herald Square at 6th Avenue and West 34th Street just after 4 a.m. ET on Christmas Day.

The NYPD would not provide details about the type of medical emergency, but said the driver was taken to the hospital after the incident. and symptoms are stable
