One influential celebrity donor has slammed Democrats for panicking after their 2024 election loss, saying now is the time for internal reflection and change.
“People need a reality check. The Democratic Party needs a reality check,” activist and producer Nicole Avant said in a new interview.
“I don’t follow Bernie. Really Sanders But I liked what he said: ‘We’re really shocked. So the Democrats are about to resign the working class? And then the working class decided to vote for someone else? Why are we shocked? ?’ Over and over again everything swayed. People need to reunite,” she continued in the comments. hollywood reporter–

Avant is the daughter of the late philanthropist Jacqueline Avant and famous music executive Clarence Avant. A top Democratic donor, married to Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix.
The pair are friends with Obama and raised more than half a million dollars as the president’s campaign fundraiser in 2012. After she served as his ambassador to the Bahamas, Avant also helped raise money for the Democratic Party’s campaign. Many famous people Including Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Avant said she sympathizes with those disappointed by Harris’ defeat. But there remains hope about the future of the Democratic Party.
She gave some tough love to liberals who were looking to flee the country because of the incoming Republican administration.

“Everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, where am I going to move to?’ “I’m not going anywhere. I am an American I love my country,” Avant said. “But at the end of the day, Millions of Democrats didn’t vote.”
“I remain very optimistic and I think we have great people in the party — Governor Josh Shapiro, Governor Andy Beshear, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, they are all smart and effective. People have to decide how they want it. Be efficient and effective and orderly,” she said.
“Don’t complain all the time.”
In addition to working in the entertainment industry and being an organizer of the Democratic Party, Avant also served as Obama’s ambassador to the Bahamas from 2009 to 2011.
