Bill Belichick, former head coach of the New England Patriots, spent most of the NFL season in the media’s spotlight.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” earlier this week, Belichick confirmed that he has spoken with the North Carolina Tar Heels about their head coach position.

While it’s unclear whether Belichick will stay on the sidelines in Chapel Hill next season, another former NFL coach spoke about the developing situation.
Bruce Arians, who led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory in the 2021 Super Bowl, admitted he was “very surprised” his contemporaries expressed interest in coaching at the college level. Arians also offered Some advice for Belichick

“I am very surprised. I think he definitely will wait for the NFL hiring process to wrap up,” Arians said during a recent appearance on the “Scoop City” podcast. “There are some good things about going back to college. Arians and Belichick are both 72. Arians is stepping away from coaching and moving into an advisory role with the Bucs in 2022.
“If I were to give Bill one piece of advice, it would be to be patient,” Arians said. “Dealing with beginners who are making money But now the newbie is making money? Trying to train those people would be nonsense.”
Arians’ coaching career began at the collegiate level. He spent time working for Mississippi, Alabama and other projects.
If Belichick attends UNC or another college program. He must navigate the name, picture and likeness (NIL) and transfer portal carefully. The NCAA transfer portal opened earlier this week. NIL and the portal have dramatically changed the college football landscape over the past few years.

Belichick shared some details about the structure of his college program if he were the head coach.
“If I was in a college program The college program will be a pipeline to the NFL for players who have the ability to play in the NFL,” he said. “It will be a professional program, training, nutrition, programming, coaching and techniques that will transfer to the NFL.”
