Barkley will need to average 134 yards per game over the past two weeks to break the record. That’s a number he’s done six times already this season.

Eric Dickerson set a record of 2,105 yards in 1984, and the Los Angeles Rams legend admits he wants to remain the King.

2024 NFL Odds: Will SAQUON BARKLEY be the best single-season rushing record?

“I don’t think he’s going to screw it up. But if he breaks it He broke it. Do I want him to destroy it? Absolutely not,” Dickerson told the Los Angeles Times this week. “I’m not opposed to that.”

Dickerson set the record by playing in 16 games, so Barkley has one more match to break the record. Dickerson didn’t care much about that.

“I’m not complaining about it. He’s got 17 games to do? Hey, football is football. That’s the way I look at it. If he’s lucky enough to go over 2,000 yards and get the record. It’s a great record to have,” he continued.

Barkley’s most likely chance at breaking the record will come against his former team. which Dickerson said would be “A real slap in the face.”
