Bob Ferguson, elected governor of Washington which is a Democrat announced Monday that he is creating a subcommittee on his transition team. This will have the sole purpose of fighting the 2025 project.
The transition team expects the 2025 project to be pushed forward by the Trump administration. This is despite President Trump’s efforts during the campaign to distance himself from the controversial proposal.
Ferguson’s committee will be co-chaired by Jennifer Allen, CEO of Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, and King County Councilman George L. Baron. who is also the former executive director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project Fox 13 Reported
“We are prepared in the event President Trump attacks the core freedoms of Washingtonians,” Ferguson said, according to the report. “We will keep Washington moving forward no matter what happens at the federal level.”

Project 2025 is a controversial initiative organized by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, authored by a number of conservatives. Including former Trump administration officials.
The initiative offers right-wing policy recommendations for Trump’s second term, including replacing government employees with Trump loyalists. Abolish the Ministry of Education Criminalize pornography Abolish DEI programs, cut funding for Medicaid and Medicare, reject abortion as health care, implement mass deportations, and infuse government with Christian values.
During the campaign Trump has tried to distance himself from the initiative. It has been criticized as a totalitarian and Christian nationalist plot to undermine civil liberties. Stating that he knew nothing about the matter, that part was “absolutely and profoundly ridiculous” and that supporters were in “Right-wing extremist”

Baron said he “It is an honor to assist Governor Ferguson in his transition to this new role and to co-chair this important subcommittee,” Fox 13 reported.
“As an immigrant and proud parent of a transgender daughter, I am extremely grateful that the governor-elect is committed to protecting all Washington state residents. And especially those communities that are most at risk of attack by the incoming federal administration. The Baron continued.
Ferguson’s office said the subcommittee will set policy priorities for his first 100 days in office, according to Fox 13, although specific policy proposals have not yet been released.
