The driver reportedly exited his vehicle and fired his weapon after crashing into a crowd. There were reports of a heavy police presence at the scene.
“There has been a mass casualty incident on Canal Street and Bourbon Street. Please leave the area,” NOLA Ready announced on social media.
“District 8 is working on a mass casualty incident. It involved a vehicle driving into a large crowd of people on Canal Road and Bourbon Street,” city officials said.
The NOLA City website says 30 injured patients have been transported by NOEMS and 10 people have died.
The incident happened around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Bourbon Street and the local Iberville news station. WGNO reports–
