Athletics president Dave Kaval resigns after being public about the organization’s move from Oakland to Las Vegas.
Kaval, 49, is the seventh president of Group A in its 123-year history and has held the position for the past eight years.
“We are grateful for Dave’s contributions and leadership over the past eight years. He guided our organization through a time of significant change. And we sincerely thank him for his steadfast commitment to the team,” A’s owner John Fisher said in a statement.

“As we look forward to the next chapter of our franchise, The team will continue to grow under new leadership. This will propel the organization to success during its interim year in West Sacramento and at our new home in Las Vegas.”
Kaval will resign from his position on December 1, 2018 to pursue new business opportunities. In California, Sandy Dean will serve as interim president. and the search for a full-time position will begin in 2025.

Dean is a long-time business partner of the Fisher family.
Caval’s resignation comes after the team overcame the last major obstacle to building a stadium in Las Vegas. Even though the fan base is overwhelmingly against it.
The Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved lease, no-move and development documents in early December to allow the A’s to build a $1.75 billion stadium on the strip.

The breakout is likely to happen in the spring. The new stadium in Las Vegas will be ready for the start of the 2028 season.
