The latest body found fits a growing mystery after at least six more bodies were found throughout the year in the lake in 2024, Friday. Police were called to investigate a report of a death in the water near the 1st Street Bridge and the 300 block of Cesar Chavez.
The Austin Police Department (APD) said they do not suspect foul play. Because the body did not have any injuries. But the incident is being investigated.
This is despite APD’s efforts to assuage the community’s fears. But questions and speculation continue to circulate. Police believe most of the deaths were accidental drownings. This is because the lake is located close to nightclubs and bars.
The body was found in the same Lake Austin where other deaths have been discovered in recent months.

The body was last found on Dec. 1. The victim was last identified as Thi Lang Nguyen, 73. Austin police said it had nothing to do with other deaths this year.

in September A man acted erratically near East Cesar Chavez Road and Nueces Road, then he went into the water and never came back up. He was later pulled out and pronounced dead.

Back in February The body of a woman was found in the water about 20 feet from the north shore and in April. Another fisherman spotted another floating in the water.

in july A man suffered a stab wound on the trail near Rainey Road. The man was pronounced dead a short time later.
in September The body was found along a trail near a lake off Pleasant Valley Road.
