Mark Gastineau can definitely hold a grudge.
Nearly 23 years ago, Michael Strahan broke Gastineau’s single-season sack record. But it has become a controversial issue.
Favre’s Packers led Strahan’s Giants 34-25 with less than three minutes remaining.
Favre faked a handoff. The (rather indifferent) roll out to the right and Strahan is there.

with Gastineau attending the event Favre fell to the ground. And Strahan was given credit for the firing. This gave him 22½ for the season and surpassed Gastineau, who had previously held the record since 1984 by 22 points.
The Packers’ next two plays were runs, and they never got the ball back before time expired. And it was the only sack Strahan had in the game.
It is debatable whether Strahan’s record is accurate or not, and Gastineau is not satisfied.

“Yes, when you go down for him,” Gastineau said, “I will take the sack back. I’ll take the sack back, friend.”
“You might hurt me,” Favre said.
“I don’t care. you hurt me You hurt me, Brett,” Gastino replied. “He took my record from me. Anyone can tell you that Brett Favre went diving. You know. He knows. He knows. Everybody knows.”

Strahan’s record has since been tied with TJ Watt, while Justin Houston and Jared Allen each had 22 in 2014 and 2011, respectively.
