Chicago – Community activist and founder of Chicago Against Violence Andre Smith may be a Democrat. But he said he is willing to work with Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, to deport illegal immigrants from the Windy City.
“I would welcome the border tsar (Tom Homan) in Chicago,” Smith told Fox News Digital in an interview, “and (truth) be told, I wouldn’t mind working with him on the basis that I was the first person in Chicago to stand up and fight against immigrants.”
Smith, who was also a preacher Has been on the front line helping his community in Chicago. From helping the homeless to fighting Mayor Brandon Johnson’s local efforts to spread immigrants across the city.

“I love when he comes to Chicago to work with him. and take them back to where they came from,” Smith said of Homan. “Because lying to a federal official is a federal offense. And if they come in claiming to be afraid for their lives You’ve got women, you’ve got men, and everyone says they’re afraid. Their lives because someone tried to kill them, and by lying, you have to make an example.”
Smith’s comments come as many Chicagoans are unhappy with the policy. A “sanctuary city” that has brought thousands of immigrants to a city with one of the highest rates of violent crime in the United States.
“Here we are in Chicago, where we (are) supposed to celebrate a season of joy, love and happiness,” Smith continued, “and a lot of people have Christmas trees and under their trees in Chicago. We are unwrapping the gift of neglect. We are unwrapping the gifts of disappointment and sorrow. We are unwrapping $575 million in taxpayer gifts given and misallocated to illegal immigrants. We need a solution. And we need change.”

Following the re-election of President Donald Trump, Johnson, who allocated millions of dollars to immigrant resources, Pledged to protect illegal immigrants living in Chicago, saying “We will neither bend nor break,” according to local news outlet WTTW.
“Our values will remain strong and steadfast. We may face obstacles in our work over the next four years. But we won’t stop And we are not going back,” Johnson said.
Meanwhile, Homan spoke in Chicago last week. And he told local Republicans he wanted Illinois Democrats to “come to the table” but if they didn’t “get the hell out of the way.”
The comments drew a heated response from Rep. Delia Ramirez, D-Ill.
“Tom Homan, next time you come to #IL03 — a district made stronger and more powerful by immigrants — you should prepare for resistance,” she warned.

“You might think Chicago would need to escape Trump’s mass deportation plan. But we plan to do everything your way.”
Ramirez’s comments have led to a growing number of statements. From Democratic leaders across the country who have vowed to oppose or reject cooperation with Trump’s mass deportation plan.
But while Homan may face opposition from Democrats in Illinois, There is one Democratic leader willing to work with him: Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

“Undocumented violent criminals who have been convicted of violent crimes. Should be deported,” Pritzker said at the Northwestern GOP convention last week. “I don’t want them in my state. I don’t think they should be in the United States.”
Pritzker, 59, is considered a likely candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028.
