Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., brushed aside Elon Musk’s statements about funding moderate groups in key Democratic districts. and said he doesn’t know anyone in his party who is afraid of Musk’s “money.”
CNN’s Victor Blackwell asked Clyburn on Saturday about Musk’s statement posted to X and wondered how Democrats would respond to Musk’s financial involvement in the Democratic race.
“You can do better than them. That’s what you do. Now you’re at work. Look, I’m a kid in the ’60s. I grew up here in South Carolina. I missed voting yesterday because I was part of the eulogy. A gentleman from a simple background who carried that flag down from the Government House dome. And began that effort throughout the South to get rid of all these Confederate emblems. We did that with a lot of money against us,” Clyburn began.
Musk posted Taking to social media, Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., responded to the video and said, “Forgot to say I will also be funding moderate candidates in heavily Democrat districts. So that the country can get rid of those who do not represent them.”

“When I worked for John Lewis back in the 60s, a lot of money and power held us back. We do what we have to do. And I don’t know a single Democrat who’s afraid of Elon Musk’s money because we’re so close to our voters. Then we will defeat him,” he added.
In the past few weeks Prominent Democrats and the media have praised Musk, not Trump, as the real president and have attacked the billionaire for his role in government as an unelected official.

CNN’s Scott Jennings dismissed Democrats who criticized Musk’s role in government and said they should read the Wall Street Journal’s report on President Biden from Thursday. That said, people noticed problems with Biden’s strength very early on. in his presidency
“People who have not been elected have run the government for four years. I’ve heard Democrats criticize the influence of billionaires on our politics. When you make Soros a punk running around collecting Democrat politicians like my kids collect Pokemon cards,” Jennings said.
“I think all the criticism of Musk from the left is completely false. and totally superior,” he added.

Clyburn, a close ally of Biden. It also helped convince the president to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, despite months of saying he would not pardon him.
“I’m really okay with it. I don’t know how many people encouraged him to do so. But I did,” Clyburn revealed in another appearance on CNN.
When CNN’s Laura Coates asked him what Biden’s reaction was, Clyburn replied, “He seems pretty quiet about it. But I emphasize the fact that we as fathers have a duty to our children.”
