“Christmas is Christmas. And it didn’t wait for what day it would be. We would love to be there for Christmas,” Jones said during a recent appearance on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan.
“I think the future will be whatever it is. We will be there by Christmas.”

Christmas Day falls on a Thursday in 2025, and NFL schedule makers are likely preparing for that. Considering the league plays games on Thursday nights throughout the regular season, however, 2029 may present some challenges due to the holiday falling on a Tuesday.

The league has had games scheduled on Christmas Day for the past few years. But for decades, the NBA has traditionally dominated the holiday by scheduling multiple games throughout Christmas Day, while the NBA still schedules some marquee teams during the holiday. But now those games have to compete with the NFL.
There are no NHL games scheduled for Wednesday.
Netflix also bought the rights to stream at least one holiday game in 2025 and 2026 under the terms of a multi-year deal with the league.
“Last year, we decided to take a big gamble on live broadcasting. By targeting a large number of fandoms in both the comedy industry reality TV, sports, and more,” Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a press release in May shortly after the game’s Christmas Day package. has been announced
