I say this as a fellow Democrat who disagrees with Carter on his policies in the Middle East and in countries like Venezuela. But I say that not to criticize the former president. But it emphasizes his unwavering commitment to principles. Honesty and without fail in doing what he believes is right.

Jimmy Carter is remembered for his honesty and devotion to humanity.

Carter’s life reads like a storybook. He is a military leader and hero. Become a successful farmer and businessman. and a governor who was a trendsetter in civil rights. He did all of this while understanding the concerns of America’s ultra-MAGA voters. Perhaps his greatest achievement was winning the presidency in 1976 on a simple project. That makes Americans believe he is an outsider. A bright face and someone who, in his words, “never lies to you.”

His single term in the White House has had many successes as well as some well-documented failures. He achieved the greatest success in the Middle East by signing the Camp David Accords. He restored the Panama Canal and signed a nuclear disarmament treaty with Russia. His most notable failure was the economic crisis that gave rise to the term “economic crisis”. “stagflation” and, of course, the Iranian hostage crisis and failed rescue attempt. His agenda also created an energy crisis that burdened Americans with soaring oil prices and long lines at gas pumps.

It is also important to know that Carter was a man of faith and God. He is private in his religious beliefs but also compassionate and committed in the most humble way possible. He teaches Sunday School in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. Both before and after assuming the presidency with little to no notice or knowledge to the public.

Carter’s marriage to Rosalynn is an example for all of us. A partnership that lasted 77 years seemed free of stress or disagreement. but through a shared commitment to the private and public values they both share. and the desire to develop one’s worldview and values.

This post-presidential tenure model was and is what sets the tone for what others will do. Including former President Bill Clinton doing post-presidential acts. After leaving the White House Carter stimulated the extralegal and judicial movement. This resulted in both the 1999 Presidential Medal and the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.

But when I reflect on President Carter’s life, This may be his last major decision to enter hospice care in February 2023, sending a powerful and profound message about end-of-life care and the decisions we all must make. unavoidable

By embracing the final chapter of his life with grace and dignity. Former Carter has done what I thought was almost impossible: he raised his stature and served as a role model for all of us. while providing a level of leadership and service that I think it’s fair to say.
