Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be asked to explain some of his beliefs about agriculture and food production by Republicans who protect the agricultural industry in their states. This may hinder a smooth confirmation if he is unable to address their concerns.
“They must be able to use modern farming techniques. And that involves a lot of things. It’s not just complicated equipment. But it also includes fertilizers and pesticides, so we have to talk about it,” Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., told reporters.
“I will always stand up for farmers and ranchers.”

Hoeven told Fox News Digital he wanted some assurances from Kennedy to support him.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, told reporters he wanted Kennedy “to understand that when I started farming in the 1960s, we were growing 50 bushels of corn per acre. Now we average about 200. Bushels per year in Iowa Much more than that.
“And you can’t feed 9 billion people on the face of the earth (if) we don’t take advantage of genetic engineering.”
Before meeting with Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Tuesday, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., told reporters he planned to ask him about use of insecticides
Afterward, Kennedy appeared to address any concerns, as Tuberville wrote in X , “Our meeting confirmed what I already knew: RFK Jr. is the right person to make sure our food is safe. Bring Transparency to Vaccines and Health Care and Make America Healthy Again.”

Meanwhile, some Republicans were concerned about the agricultural implications of Kennedy’s position. But his stance on food safety is attractive to some Democrats. This may require confirmation of his vote.
A number of Democratic senators told Fox News Digital that their interest was piqued by Kennedy’s ideas on food regulation. But no one said they had a meeting scheduled.

“His approach to food and nutrition is more direct. And it might be more successful than continuing the way we’ve done it,” Sen. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., told Fox News Digital.
“I definitely look forward to him coming in and testifying.”
A representative for Kennedy did not provide a comment to Fox News Digital in time for publication.
