Fetterman: Those hoping for Trump to fail are ‘Rooting against the country’

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., said he hopes President Trump succeeds. and speaking out against those who feel otherwise.

Fetterman appeared Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” and his more than 10-minute sit-down was pre-recorded with co-anchor Jonathan Karl.

“I don’t support him,” the Democratic senator said. “If you support the president You are supporting the country. And I will never be in a position where I want the president to fail, so the country comes first. I know it might sound cliche, but it really happens.”

The senator told Carl that he never believed Trump’s movement was about fascism. At the same time, it was noted that it was Vice President Kamala’s “prerogative”. Harris to call Trump a fascist during her campaign

“Fascism That’s not a term people use, you know?” Fetterman said. “I think people are deciding who the candidate is that will protect and project my version of the American way of life. And that is what happened.”

Fetterman is meeting with Trump’s Cabinet nominees, noting that his decision on whether to vote to confirm a candidate comes from an open-minded and informed perspective.

“I believe it is appropriate and responsible for U.S. senators to act. to speak with President Trump’s nominees That’s how I met with Elise Stefanik and Pete Hegseth, who recently spoke with Tulsi Gabbard, and hope to meet with others soon,” Fetterman announced in a post on X.

“My vote will come from an open mind and informed opinions after speaking with them. That doesn’t cause conflict. It is my job,” he continued.

More than a month ago, Fetterman said Democrats could not afford to be “frustrated” with everything Trump said or did. He echoed those sentiments on Sunday. By saying again that Trump hasn’t even taken office yet.
