A Florida woman was arrested Sunday after being accused of stabbing her boyfriend’s dog multiple times. and later told officers she “made a mistake,” according to law enforcement officials.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said 23-year-old Megan Lynn Mileskiwicz was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and resisting arrest.
The sheriff’s office said At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Sunday Officers responded to a 911 call where a witness reported that a woman had repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend’s dog in the home.
When officers arrived at the home in Spring Hill, Mileskiewicz was not inside. But witnesses said she fled through the back door of the residence.

After a short search Officers discovered Mileskiewicz hiding behind a tool shed in the backyard. Face down on the ground and surrounded by bushes.
Authorities reportedly ordered the suspect to crawl out of the bushes. Although she refused and was eventually removed from hiding and taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office noted that The dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, had two lacerations approximately 2 to 3 inches long near his back.

Officials say the injuries are not life-threatening. But the wound was still bleeding.
A witness reportedly told officers that Mileskiewicz was angry at the dog and armed himself with a pocket knife before attempting to stab the dog without warning.

Mileskiewicz was later allegedly seen stabbing a dog over and over. A witness called 911.
The sheriff’s office also said Mileskiewicz had been read her Miranda rights. Before she told investigators the dog was “bothering” her, she also allegedly told investigators she was upset and “made a mistake.”

Court records show Mileskiewicz was arrested on charges of animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence. She was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center. And her bond was set at $3,500.
