GOP House Oversight chairman supports Dem team members in ranking member roles: ‘The best they’ve gotten’

during an interview on “Fox News Live” on Sunday. House Oversight Chairman and member of the GOP Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., threw his support behind the representative committee members. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez New York’s Democratic congressman is seeking fellow Democrat Jamie Raskin’s top ranking member.

The Kentucky Republican explains his endorsement after being questioned by co-anchor Arthel Neville.

Arthel Neville: Of course you are a member of House Oversight and Responsibility Committee– Chair. Actually, you are also a member of the AOC fan club. I understand, and in addition to believing that you will have a good working relationship. What leadership qualities make Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a success? Be an effective member of governance?

Rep. James Comer, R-KY– I think if you look at the current leadership with the Oversight Committee on the Democrat side, they have Jamie Raskin at the helm, so the Democrats have nowhere to go but to stand up. Jamie Raskin is wrong.

Arthel Neville: So how can AOC make you go up or make the Democrats go up?

Rep. James Comer, R-KY– Yeah, she said it better. Listen, I think that, you know. Democrats are turning on AOC. My endorsement of AOC might hurt her, which… I find amusing. They wanted to go back to the boring old man. Like Jerry Connolly, but look, AOC is, you know, I think she represents a large section of the Democratic Party that believes in socialism. that believes in the Green New Deal, that believes in Wokeism, so if the Democrats want real Democrats to lead the oversight committee that’s on their side, I think AOC is. perfect for them

Arthel Neville: And what about her leadership qualities?

Rep. James Comer, R-KY: Look, I mean, lucky for you. She is in the minority. Therefore, she does not need to display many leadership qualities. What they will do is try to complain and interrupt and do that, but I think AOC is the best they’ve got. If it tells you anything about the Democrats on the Oversight Committee, I think AOC is the best they’ve got.

Arthel Neville: Do you have anything good to say about how she might lead?

Rep. James Comer, R-KY: She’s much prettier than Jamie Raskin, and she’s a pleasure to be around. That’s right, once again, they have nowhere to go but to chase after Jamie Raskin.
