Fierstein was stuck in a cycle of gaining and losing weight for years.
“I was skinny before. That’s the sad part,” the 70-year-old actor told the outlet. “I’m skinny, I’m fat, I’m skinny, I’m fat.”
For Fierstein, this time he felt like a “normal person” instead of someone on a diet.

“The difference is what the medicine actually does to you, which is, I don’t feel like I’m starving,” the playwright explains. “I feel like a normal person. You can go eat dinner with friends. You don’t have to eat every piece of bread on the table. And you don’t have to eat ice cream when you’re done eating dinner.”
“I know what it means to be full like a normal person.”
