Sony Pictures is in the early stages of production on films from the Helldivers and Horizon franchises.
Sony Pictures took the stage at CES 2025 to announce several adaptations of the company’s video game IP. After the huge success of Helldivers 2, a Helldivers movie is officially in the works. Sony is also adapting Horizon Zero Dawn, which was previously set to be a TV show on Netflix, into a feature film.
The Helldivers film is being developed by Sony Pictures, while Columbia Pictures will handle Horizon Zero Dawn. The latter was previously in the works for a Netflix series but was canceled last year. They join Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo and The Last of Us in modern adaptations of video games published by Sony.

Horizon Zero Dawn will follow the story of Aloy. Little is known about the Helldivers film, which will likely revolve around the battle between humans and extraterrestrial enemies. No projects have writers, directors or actors attached to them.
Sony also announced that the Ghost of Tsushima anime is coming to Crunchyroll and that The Last of Us season 2 will air in April. For more from CES 2025, Shacknews has what you’re looking for.
