Although the exact date has not yet been revealed. But President Biden said in a statement from the White House on Sunday night that Carter’s funeral at Washington National Cathedral is scheduled for January 1, 9. It is designated as a national day of mourning.

“I call on all Americans to gather together that day at their places of worship. There to pay respects to President James Earl Carter Jr. I invite those around the world who mourn with us to join us in this. A solemn ceremony,” the president said.

Biden also ordered all American flags to be flown at half-staff for the next 30 days.

The 39th president is expected to take office at both the Georgia State Capitol and the U.S. Capitol. Ahead of a state funeral in Washington, D.C., the New York Times reported.
