“On behalf of the men and women of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) who protect our nation’s borders, We are excited to support Governor Kristi Noem, President Donald Trump’s nominee to be the next Secretary of State. of Homeland Security,” National Border Patrol Council Chairman Paul Perez wrote in a letter to Sens. Gary Peters, D-Mich., and Rand Paul, R-Ky., the panel’s chairman and ranking member. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, respectively.
Perez sent the letter, which Fox News Digital obtained, to senators on Thursday. Joining the growing number of law enforcement groups supporting Noem, DHS oversees U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The union, which represents about 18,000 Border Patrol agents, wrote in a letter to Paul and Peters that Noem has demonstrated her ability to “get things done” both at home in South Dakota. and on the national stage when she helped Texas “Operation Lone Star” fight the immigration crisis.

“Governor Noem is a seasoned leader who knows how to get things done, not only as the CEO of her home state. but also in Washington, D.C., where she served with distinction and integrity in the United States House of Representatives,” Perez wrote in a statement. The letter, addressed to Sen. John Thune, R.S.D., the incoming Senate Majority Leader,
“Governor Noem is the first governor to send National Guard personnel to the border in Texas in support of Operation Lone Star. This deployment bolsters our resources at a critical time along the border. and help protect Texans and Americans alike.”

“The border is a war zone. So we sent soldiers,” Noem said at a news conference in February. This marks the fifth deployment of the National Guard to the border under the Biden administration. “The primary mission of these soldiers is to build a wall to block the entry of illegal immigrants, drug cartels, and human trafficking into the United States.”
Earlier this month, Washington, D.C., insiders told Fox News Digital that they expected Noem to receive endorsements from numerous law enforcement groups for her federal nomination.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, the Fraternal Order of Police, sent letters to both President-elect Trump and Paul outlining their strong support for Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security
“Governor Noem has been a long-time FOP ally during her tenure in the House of Representatives and as Governor of South Dakota. The South Dakota State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Governor Noem for her 2022 re-election campaign, citing her belief in the rule of law and commitment to public safety,” said President Patrick Yoes. of the national police fraternity level wrote in a letter to Trump in November, which was obtained by Fox News Digital.

Perez echoed those sentiments with Border Patrol officials. It especially calls for Noem’s swift confirmation to strengthen border security and homeland security overall.
“We are confident that as Secretary, Governor Noem will continue to ensure that Border Patrol agents have the resources and manpower we need to secure our border. We encourage you to begin considering this important nomination quickly. and confirmed Governor Noem as secretary when President Trump Sworn in,” Perez said.
