Lee Greenwood said “The Pendulum Has Swung” can feel the conservative resurgence in America.

Curb credits California traffic jams for giving him and Reagan so much time to write songs together in the ’70s, starting with “Together, a New Beginning.”

“Back in the 70s, there was so much traffic in California that I used to travel,” Curb told Fox News Digital, “and a lot of times we wrote songs together. One of them was the 1980 convention theme song that was played, called ‘Together, a New Beginning’… Many of our music artists came to the event. It was in Detroit that year… And then that song was sung in the assembly.”

Reagan lost the Republican nomination to Gerald Ford in 1976, but Curb said he brought his frustrations into writing more songs.

“Then we wrote a song called “God Has a Greater Plan” after he lost the election in 1976,” Curb said. “He was a little down and didn’t think he could run again. And I said to him, ‘God has a greater plan,’ and he said, ‘Oh, that’s what Nancy said.’ Then we wrote a song called ‘God as a Greater Plan’… and then we wrote a song. The third, ‘We Can Begin the World Over Again,’ which is all his lyrics.”

Years later, producer Mark Joseph played the song for Lee Greenwood, who decided to repair it and change it to “Let’s Start the World Over Again.”

“He said, ‘Ronald Reagan and Mike Curb tried to write a song,’” Greenwood told Fox News Digital, “and he sent it to me. And he said ‘It’s really not like that. It was never completed.’ The idea was to create an entire world. So innocent But it’s a really beautiful idea.”

“And I know Ronald Reagan quite well, I know Mike Curb quite well, I was on his record label for a while. And it gave me the opportunity to do the song again,” Greenwood continued, “and I redid the song for them. They liked it very much. I saved this version. And it should be released on their after-sales album from the movie ‘Reagan’ soon.”
