A suspect has been arrested after the shooting in New York City’s Grand Central subway station on Christmas Eve. Two people were injured, police said.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that Jason Sargeant, 28, of Brooklyn, was arrested on suspicion of accidentally injuring two people.
On Tuesday, just before 10:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about an assault at the 42nd Street-Grand Central subway station.
Police said a 26-year-old woman was slashed in the neck and a 42-year-old man was slashed in the left wrist.

Police said the man was the first victim and was attacked on the stairs leading to the south entrance to the station. The sergeant is accused of slashing the man on the left wrist after an argument.
Moments later, police said, Sargeant reportedly confronted the female victim. and slashed her in the neck near a turnstile during a second altercation.
EMS responded and transported both victims to a local hospital.
Police said both victims remain in stable condition.

Police also recovered a knife from the scene.
Sargent is charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of menacing. Criminal possession of a weapon, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
The attack comes just days after a woman was set on fire and burned alive on a New York City subway.
Sebastin Zapeta, 33, illegal immigrant from Guatemala. He was charged with first-degree murder and malicious intent. The same is true for malicious arson.
A few hours after the attack New York Governor Kathy Hochul addressed subway safety in New York City in a post on X and is being criticized for her “tone deaf” post.

Hochul claims crime in the New York subway has decreased since she deployed the National Guard to alleviate the problem earlier this year. It was about eight hours after the woman’s murder.

“In March I worked to make our subways safer for the millions of people who ride them each day,” Hochul’s post read. @NationalGuardNY To support the safety efforts of @NYPDnews and @MTA and add cameras to every subway car. Crime has decreased. And the number of passengers is increasing,” she wrote in her post.
Fox News Digital previously Reach out to Hochul’s office. to express critical comments but did not receive an immediate response.
Tom Homan, President Trump’s incoming border czar attacked Hochul on Monday during an interview on “Fox & Friends.”
“Governor Hochul. Shame on you. There’s nothing you can say that would make this right in New York,” Homan said.

Homan, who recently traveled to the Big Apple to discuss illegal immigrant crimes with New York City Mayor Eric Adams. It has blamed the Biden administration for lax federal immigration policy.
“This is another example of an illegal alien killing an American citizen. Now this happens almost every day. Because there have been many foreign criminals walking the streets throughout history. This is because of the policies of this government in jurisdictions and lax enforcement of immigration laws,” he said.
