If they want to stay with the network, MSNBC owners Joy Reid and Stephanie Ruhle may have to take a pay cut.

According to the news website, AnkleMSNBC is looking to negotiate a new deal. And it has been reported that both Reid and Ruhle have been asked to take salary cuts.

Ruhle, organizer of “The 11th Hour” at 11:00 PM every weeknight. It currently makes $2 million a year, while Reid earns $3 million a year hosting “The ReidOut” on weeknights at 8 p.m.

News of the salary negotiations comes during a major shakeup for the Liberal channel.

Ratings have plummeted. MSNBC’s parent company, Comcast, has announced it will spin off the channel into a separate company called SpinCo, and employees are reportedly panicking about possible layoffs.

During a meeting led by NBCUniversal Chairman Mark Lazarus, who is set to lead SpinCo, it was recalled that “employees fearing impending layoffs questioned him about whether the network would have to change its name, logo and headquarters. An MSNBC source told the outlet: “Everyone was panicking because everything was floating in the air.”

Stephanie Ruhle, host of “The 11th Hour” on MSNBC, will take a pay cut if she remains an anchor.

Reed, who has been with the channel since 2011 and has had prime time since 2020, has experienced a sharp decline in ratings since Trump’s election. It has lost nearly half its audience since then.

Far-left anchor MSNBC has dropped its audience by 47%, averaging just 759,000 viewers, after averaging 1.4 million viewers throughout 2024 leading up to Election Day, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Ratings dropped for many of the channel’s biggest stars, such as “All In” host Chris Hayes, who lost 56 percent of key demo viewers in Tuesday’s 8 p.m. ET time slot. Friday after election day

Lawrence O’Donnell, host of “Last Word,” was also popular with viewers. It has averaged only 930,000 total viewers since the election and 78,000 in the main demo. with a loss of more than 40% in each metric.

Maddow, which airs only on Monday nights, saw a 43 percent drop in viewers. Like Reid and Ruhle, Maddow also took a pay cut.

The Ankler reported last month that Maddow would take a “pay cut” of $5 million per year. And now it will generate $25 million in annual revenue over the next five years.

MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
