A Texas man is accused of killing his wife. who was pregnant at the time of her death while their other young children were at home.
Authorities say Lee Mongerson Gilley, 38, is accused of strangling his wife, Krista Bauer Gilley, 38, to death at their home in Houston on Monday. 1 Oct. 7, killing both her and her unborn child.
“Various situations Not oppressive at all,” Christa’s friends wrote on a fundraising page on behalf of her family. “But the loss of everyone who knew and loved her is more than just the horrifying details of her death.”

Officers arrived at Gilley’s home on the night of Oct. 10 after receiving a report of a suicide. officials said in a news release. Christa was taken to the hospital. which she has died Hospital officials said she had visible bruises and cuts on her face.
Gilley originally told authorities that Christa deliberately tried to overdose on drugs. And he found her unresponsive. But an autopsy later found she had suffered strangulation injuries.
Her death was ruled a homicide. which is caused by “pressure on the neck”

Gilley was arrested on Oct. 1 on Sept. 11 and booked into the Harris County Jail in Houston.

According to testimony at the child custody trial Gilley allegedly told two relatives that he was considering leaving with the children. Soon after officers questioned him about his wife’s death. Houston Chronicle reports–

“For any allegation that Lee Gilley attempted to escape. Those things are false,” Gilley’s defense attorney, Ed McKees, told Fox News Digital.
“It was an out of character comment made before the criminal charges were filed. Before an arrest warrant was issued When he was considering trying to visit his children’s parents and grandparents. at the family home in South Carolina,” McKlees added. “He never thought about running away… He complied with every bond condition given to him.”

A judge previously banned Gilley from contacting his two children. who was home when their mother died and ordered to return his passport.
Gilley is charged with murder for the murder of his wife. He was released from custody after posting $1 million bail and a judge granted temporary joint support over the children. to their grandparents and Gilley’s sister-in-law. According to local outlets in Houston,

McClees confirmed to Fox News Digital that Gilley, who is reported to be working as software consultant, is facing capital murder charges and has been released from custody.
“As far as capital murder cases go, We are still in the process of obtaining all the documents that law enforcement agencies have,” he said. “They have not handed over many of the reports that we are due… We were told we should receive these sometime after New Year’s. But we don’t have any yet. So we are still in The process of evaluating the state’s allegations to see how conclusive they are.”
“Mr Gilley is devastated by the loss of his wife and the mother of his children and we are working hard to get to the root of what happened,” MacLees added.
