Nancy Mace, South Carolina lawmaker It sparked a firestorm from critics like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., when she introduced a resolution banning transgender women from using the women’s bathroom at the U.S. Capitol.

After progressive Democrats claimed that Mace and supporters of the bill “Dangerous to women and girls,” Mace shot back.

“It’s the ultimate hypocrisy,” Mace said on “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday. “It is just a display of lies. (Democrats) They don’t want to protect women. They never wanted to protect women. And their policies will only further harm women and girls.”

Mez, who claims to be a survivor of rape and sexual abuse. Introducing the resolution last week, she told Fox News Digital that “the sacredness of protecting women and standing up against the left’s systematic erasure of biological women begins right here in the nation’s capitol.”

The measure would prohibit “members, officers and employees of the council from using single-gender facilities. Beyond biological sexual conveniences and for other purposes,” according to text previewed by Fox News Digital.

“It is ridiculous to me that women who are victims of abuse should be forced to undress or go into the bathroom next to men,” Maze told co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy.

This comes before the first openly transgender lawmaker, Sarah McBride, D-Del., joins Congress in January.

AOC heavily criticized the bill while speaking with reporters on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

“What Nancy Mace and Speaker Johnson are doing is endangering all women and girls. Because if you ask them, ‘What are your plans for enforcing this?’ They won’t have an answer,” she said.

“What is inevitable are women and girls preparing to be attacked… because people will want to check their genitals to see who is transgender, who is cis, and who does what… Because she wants to be suspicious” and pointing fingers at people she thinks are transgender is disgusting.”

Lawmakers in New York also accused Mace of wanting women to “keep their heads down” in order to enforce the resolution.

Mace rejected that idea, saying, “(AOC) isn’t telling the truth. No one ever said women should ditch the bullshit. That is really disgusting.”

Since announcing the resolution, Mace has faced numerous threats and even public harassment.

“It is sad and surprising that in 2024 I will have to watch TV and be on social media. To explain to left-wing extremists that men shouldn’t be allowed into women’s restrooms. Women should not be forced to undress in front of men.”
