Raiders star Brock Bowers broke multiple rookie records against the Saints.

It’s been a forgettable season for the Las Vegas Raiders, except when it comes to rookie Brock Bowers, who broke two league records against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Bowers, the team’s first-round pick from Georgia in April. Enter this contest holding Mike Ditka’s all-time rookie yards record for narrow finishes. And he smashed it.

Ditka, a Chicago Bears legend, held the rookie receiving yards record for 63 years until Bowers caught a 13-yard pass from quarterback Aidan O’Connell to move ahead of him in the record books.

Bowers came into the game with 1,067 yards, trailing Ditka’s long-standing record by just 10 yards. However, Ditka played during a stretch of just 14 games in a season. It takes only 56 passes to count as many yards.

But Ditka’s record isn’t the only one Bowers is keeping an eye on before his first season ends.

Puka Nacua, who became a star for the Los Angeles Rams last season Breaking the 2023 rookie record with 105 catches in his breakout campaign, Bowers was just four receivers shy of entering this game as well.

Bowers led the Raiders with seven catches for 77 yards, breaking Nacua’s record in the process on what turned out to be a big day for the Raiders, who had won back-to-back games.

Las Vegas downed New Orleans 25-10 as O’Connell threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-35 through the air.

His touchdown receptions were Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker, while Ameer Abdullah rushed for 115 yards on 20 carries to lead the way on the ground.

The Raiders’ win continues to have an impact on the NFL Draft, as they are now 4-12 on the season with just over a week left to play.
