The following message was posted to Rift of the NecroDancer’s Steam page

To reach our launch date in 2024, we need to work on some serious fixes and bug fixes. At Brace Yourself Games, we’re all about sustainability. It’s not a crush. We believe in making great games without compromising the well-being of the team.

We decided to avoid cutting some features in order to reach the 2024 launch date and may be forced to release only half of the remaining features. So we took a deep breath, stepped back, and gave Rift of the NecroDancer a little more time in the oven.

One thing we’re doing to give ourselves a little more leeway is separating the Steam release from additional platforms. This means we’ll release it on Steam first, and later on consoles.

To ease the pain of the release date postponement, the team at Brace Yourself Games has revealed some of the things that are in the works for Rift of the NecroDancer. Expect some tweaks based on feedback from the game’s demo. Along with some additions like impossible difficulty, remix mode and new tools. To allow users to create maps for uploading custom songs.

It’s been a long time since Rift of the NecroDancer was first released. Originally revealed back in August 2022 along with the Synchrony DLC for the original Crypt of the NecroDancer, the wait is almost over when Rift of the NecroDancer will be coming to PC. Wednesday February 5– Console version will arrive later this year.

Ozzie has been playing video games since he picked up his first NES controller at age 5. He’s been into games ever since. Having only briefly stepped away from university, he was brought back in after spending several years in QA for both THQ and Activision, with much of that time spent helping push the Guitar Hero series to new heights. Ozzie has become Big fan of platform games, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few. But he’s also a total sucker for anything that has a good, compelling narrative behind it. After all, what’s a video game if you can’t enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
