After one of golf’s most historic seasons in 2024, 2025 won’t be the perfect start for Scottie Scheffler.
The reigning PGA Player of the Year and No. 1 golfer in the world will miss next week’s Sentry tournament after he had hand surgery.
In a statement released on Friday. Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, said Scheffler He was “injured by a shard of broken glass” in his right hand on Christmas Day while preparing dinner.

“A small shard of glass. still in the palm which requires surgery He was told he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks,” Smith said, adding that Scheffler has officially withdrawn from The Sentry.
Scheffler’s next tournament is American Express, which begins on January 1, 16. This year’s Sentry is touted as a signature event. The first of eight events
Scheffler’s injury comes months after he wrapped up one of the greatest seasons the PGA has ever seen. He started the season with four top-10 finishes in his first five tournaments. Then he kicked it into another gear. He had four wins and a tie in the next five events. He has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, RBC Heritage and lecturer

His season changed dramatically in May. when he was arrested heading into the second round of the competition. PGA Championship at Valhalla– He spent time in a jail cell before shooting 66 later that day. He finished eighth in the tournament.
Scheffler then received the Memorial and Travelers award in June. and won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics Including the Olympic Games. Scheffler has eight wins, two second-place finishes, 17 top-10 finishes and zero cuts in 20 events. His seven victories in PGA events are the most since 2007.
