On November 26, 2024, Sony launched Podcast where Sid Shuman, Sony’s Senior Director of Interactive Content Communications, and Shuhei Yoshida, previous president of PlayStation Studios and now PlayStation Head of Indies Initiative, talked at length about the company. In this podcast, Shuhei Yoshida announces that he will be leaving Sony on January 15, 2025 after 31 years with PlayStation.
“I’ve been using PlayStation since the beginning. And this is my 31st year with PlayStation, and when I turned 30, I thought, well, it’s probably time for me to move on,” Yoshida said. “You know, the company is doing well. I love PS5, I love the games that come out on this platform. And we have a new generation of executives that I respect and admire. And I’m very excited for the future of PlayStation.”
Yoshida came to Sony in 1993, where he joined Ken Kutanagi’s team developing the PlayStation. Yoshida’s assignment was to “talk with publishers and developers in Japan” about creating games for the PlayStation, which was delving into graphics. 3D, CD-ROM, and other state-of-the-art technology at the time
