“This has been an unexpected six weeks for me and my family. As we work together for recovery I want to take a moment to share that the outpouring of support we’ve received during this time has been truly overwhelming at best. Possible methods,” the message said. “Although I want to go back to all of you. But right now I want to say that my family and I are eternally grateful. We appreciate our wonderful community. All Spurs organization Our family and friends.”

“No one is more excited to see me back on the bench than the talented individuals leading my recovery process. They quickly learned that I was less coachable.”

The team said last month that he is expected to make a full recovery. Mitch Johnson will lead the Spurs in Popovich’s absence.

San Antonio is 13-13 after losing to Minnesota. Timberwolves 106-92 on Sunday night.

Popovich is the NBA career leader with 1,401 victories and another 170 postseason victories along with winning five NBA championships. He is in his 29th season overall with San Antonio.
