Republican attorneys general in Virginia and Montana recently filed amicus briefs asking the Supreme Court to require TikTok to cut ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over the fate of the social media platform. in the United States remains uncertain.
The amicus brief filed Friday It comes on the same day that President Donald Trump filed his own amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to temporarily halt TikTok’s ban and allow him to make executive decisions about TikTok once he launches it.

“The Supreme Court now has an opportunity to affirm Congress’s authority to protect Americans from foreign threats. At the same time, it ensures that the First Amendment does not become a tool to protect the exploitative practices of foreign adversaries.”
