President Donald Trump’s defamation lawsuit against ABC has been officially dismissed. This after he reached a $15 million settlement with the network and top anchor George Stephanopoulos.
The case was dismissed in accordance with the terms filed on Monday. It was signed by Chief U.S. District Judge Cecelia Altonaga, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
“After being advised of the termination of the agreement by both parties and having received complete advice in place. Therefore, the order has been received and it has been determined that the said requirements have been approved,” the document states. “This proceeding in the foregoing manner voids the obligation for each party to bear its own attorney’s fees and expenses.”
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS ABC News’ settlement with TRUMP’s defamation lawsuit was not mentioned on his Sunday show.
The dismissal came after the two sides reached an agreement to avoid a costly trial.
As part of the agreement, ABC News agreed to pay $15 million in charitable donations to “Presidential foundations and museums to be established by or for Plaintiffs as have been established in the past by Presidents of the United States.” Additionally, the network will pay $1 million for Trump’s attorneys’ fees.
Stephanopoulos and ABC News were also required to issue a “regretful” statement, according to the editor’s note at the bottom of the March 10, 2024, issue. online articles about comments made earlier this year that led Trump to file a defamation lawsuit
The message read: “ABC News and George Stephanopoulos. “Disappointed by statements made about President Donald J. Trump during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024.”
