Study finds many women ‘Unprepared’ for severe pain from chemical abortion

A new study finds that many women may be surprised by the intense pain of a chemical abortion.

About half of the respondents said the pain they experienced was more than they expected. The majority of respondents (92%) rated their pain at least 4 out of 10 on the pain scale. while more than 40% of respondents rated their pain as severe (8-10).

Nearly 1,600 women responded to the survey. Most were between the ages of 20 and 39. About half of the respondents reported that they had never given birth before.

Two-thirds of respondents said they would choose the abortion pill again if needed in the future, but 13% of respondents said they would choose a surgical abortion. The majority of people in this group cited the severe pain they experienced as a factor.

While some women feel that the pain is no worse than menstrual cramps, But other women Survey respondents said the pain was much worse than they expected. The researchers concluded that patients needed to receive “Accurate and realistic information about pain” to manage and support “Informed Consent for Choosing an Abortion Method”
