The suspect, 19-year-old Anwen Williams, is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. He also has an outstanding warrant for his arrest on charges of abetting child sexual conduct.

A body was found in the same Lake Austin where six other deaths were found in 2024.

Berk now has stitches on his neck and a bandage covering a deep wound on his hand.

Berk told police he picked up Williams while driving for a Lyft on Monday evening in Frisco, Texas.

When they arrived at Williams’ destination at Legends at Legacy Apartments on 3700 Legacy Drive shortly before 6 p.m., Berk said the suspect attacked him from behind with a knife. and then with a cable or wire to try to strangle him.

“The rider put a knife to Dilaver’s throat and slashed his neck. He did that a couple of times,” Berk’s friend Dustin Tovi told Fox 4.

“Dilaver put his hand in front of the knife and asked the rider, ‘Hey, whatever you want. Leave me alone.’ Then he had a wire wrapped around his neck. And Dilaver reached out as well. And he had a lot of injuries to his fingers and neck because he got stabbed a couple of times,” Towi continued.

Frisco police said Williams stole Berk’s Toyota Camry and left him in the parking lot of an apartment building. A nearby woman assisted Burke and called 911 to report the incident.

A few hours later Police later located the vehicle near Highway 423 and Rock Hill. Police tried to pull the driver over. But he quickly fled to evade police.

Police said Williams had an accident and tried to escape. But in the end he was arrested.

Williams remains in custody in the Denton County Jail.
