A 28-year-old prison guard in Texas died after being allegedly attacked by an inmate while returning an inmate to his cell.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman revealed that Officer Isaiah Bias was killed Monday during an alleged attack at the prison.
“It is with great sadness that we stand here today and acknowledge the loss of one of our own… Isaiah Bias, 28, was a dedicated prison officer. Having worked for the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office for over six years,” Norman said.
Norman called the alleged attack by the 45-year-old suspect, Aaron Thompson, “pure evil,” but did not reveal details about how Bias was killed.

“Most of the time. “Law enforcement officers and prison officers deal with good people having a bad day, sometimes we deal with bad people,” Norman said. “I can honestly say that my employees during the day In the end, the true evil was dealt with.”
Norman said Thompson is charged with first degree murder. He added that he would propose using the death penalty.

“It was a terrible, horrible and purposeful murder. That is senseless and unnecessary,” Norman said. “The District Attorney’s Office will have the final say on whether or not they seek the death penalty in this case. If I have something to say That’s what will happen. But the final decision rests with the district attorney’s office.”

“He wanted to be a law enforcement officer. He came to work in a prison,” Norman said. “You can work in a prison when you’re 18. You can’t be a peace officer in Texas until you’re 21,” Norman said.
Norman also refers to bias as He described him as a “very family-oriented person” and said he had only become an uncle a week before his murder.
