A 28-year-old prison guard in Texas died after being allegedly attacked by an inmate while returning an inmate to his cell.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman revealed that Officer Isaiah Bias was killed Monday during an alleged attack at the prison.
“It is with great sadness that we stand here today and acknowledge the loss of one of our own… Isaiah Bias, 28, was a dedicated prison officer. Having worked for the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office for over six years,” Norman said.
Norman called the alleged attack by the 45-year-old suspect, Aaron Thompson, “pure evil,” but did not reveal details about how Bias was killed.
