A teenager in Texas faces criminal charges after being accused of killing a competitor’s show goat a few months ago.
An arrest affidavit reveals 17-year-old Aubrey Vanlandingham competed in a rodeo with her own goat. who allegedly confessed to poisoning his younger rival’s goat, Willy. CBS Austin reports

The teen was seen leaving Willie and returning to check on him on two separate occasions over a two-hour period. before calling the competitor’s mother to tell her that the goat was not well.

Willie died in his owner’s arms within 24 hours after suffering a seizure and having difficulty breathing, CBS Austin said.

“It’s all weird. We want justice. We don’t want a slap on the wrist. We want to make sure she is punished. At this point we don’t feel like she thought she would be punished and she It must be like that. You have to own up to what you did,” she told the outlet. Adding that they want her to go to jail and get mental help.

Vanlandingham was charged with animal cruelty, a crime in the state of Texas that carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. She was arrested in November on Sept. 22 and released on $5,000 bond the same day. Prison records indicate
